John leads the team at Compression Consultants. He has been a therapist for more than 30 years, specializing in lymphedema for most of his career. His background also includes treatment of strokes, brain injuries and wound care. He provides clinical assistance and education on lymphedema treatment and medical compression therapy to patients, therapists and other professionals as Clinical Manager for Juzo USA.
John received his Expert Clinician certification from the National Lymphedema Network (November 2022). He also is an adjunct instructor for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he teaches the lymphedema portion of the doctorate program. He currently is an instructor for Klose Training (lymphedema school) he has been a senior instructor for Academy of Lymphatic Studies (ACOLS) since 2008-2023.
John previously served as the Clinic Director at the North Chattanooga branch of Benchmark Physical Therapy, specializing in treating lymphedema, venous disease swelling and custom garment fittings.
John has been published articles in Radiology, Journal of Lymphoedema, and Lymphatic Research and Biology and provides clinical expertise to Vanderbilt University, Georgia Tech and Western Carolina University. John also consults with other universities and businesses in continued research related to lymphedema. John also offers seminars to therapists in his area on topics such as: difficult garment fittings, billing issues and wrapping techniques for therapists.
John received training as a Physical Therapist Assistant from St. Catherine University, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1993. In 2007, he earned a B.S. in Business Administration (summa cum laude) from Bryan College, Dayton, Tennessee.
